Mundaka

Mundaka

October 18th, 2009

Mundaka was and always is a long drawn out event. Because the wave only breaks an hour and a half either side of the low tide each day, the event can only run half days and it also need a fair bit of swell to even start braking. I was surprised we got to start round 1 on the 1st day of the waiting period. I had a good heat, with some fun little Mundaka tubes. Then came 6 lay days in a row. When i finally got to surf round 2 i was the last heat of the day and it was boarder line too dark toward the end. I ended up losing in a close heat to KP. In the end a 17th was ok, but i would of like to gone further.

Now off to Portugal to hopefully get some tubes at Super tubes.

I’m in France and the event just finished. I’m happy with a 5th, my best result of the year so far. My boards were going very good and the waves were small but fun. I felt like I could have gone further if I got better waves in my quarter. I’ve got a week off now to enjoy France before the next event starts in Spain.

Ben.

Hey guys, I’m in America and have surfed in the Hurley Pro. The waves for the 1st 2 rounds were pretty bad. Then the surf got better for the 3rd round but my heat was at the change of tide & I only caught 2 waves because it was so inconsistent. I have been working on my surfing and I felt like I showed it a little bit in my heat against Dane. I’ve had a good time, seen some good movies and watched a baseball game in San Diego. Now its off too Europe where we have 3 events back to back.
